Boothbay Harbor restaurant raising funds for family

Dockside Grill in Boothbay Harbor is currently raising funds for a Boothbay family who recently had a premature baby and are traveling daily to the Barbara Bush Center at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Liam Alan Lewis, son of Amy Williams and Justin Lewis, was born Aug. 19 after only 24 weeks in development. Justin weighed only 1 pound, 3 ounces and was 11 inches long. Amy developed preeclampsia, a condition where a pregnant woman develops high blood pressure and protein in her urine, among other symptoms, and for safety for the child and mother, doctors decided to deliver the baby.

"We're just trying to raise money for Amy and Justin to help with their travel and other expenses," said Dockside owner Clint Erwin.

Along with Amy's sister Jenna Williams, Erwin has set up a donation jug in the restaurant on Atlantic Avenue (at Capt. Fish's Motel). Erwin has also pledged to donate 10 percent of all proceeds made to the jar and Jenna, a waitress at Dockside, is donating 20 percent of her tips to the jar.

"People can bring in cash, write a check or drop off a gas card," said Erwin.

Dockside will be open Thursday through Sunday for dinner, and every day for breakfast.
