Boothbay Harbor Republicans to host September cookout

Wed, 08/17/2016 - 7:30am

The Boothbay Harbor Republican Committee has elected Bill Coll as its chairman. He succeeds Steve Lorrain who has served in that capacity with distinction for several years. Bill is excited to work with our District’s legislative candidates, i.e. Stephanie Hawke, who supports our exceptional regional school system, local businesses, and the preservation and protection of the shoreland for both our fisherman and residents. Bill, with the support of other committee officers who include Vice-Chairman John O’Connell, Treasurer Lisa Orne-Hallinan, Finance Chair Elise Roberts and Secretary Catherine Coll, will be very active in the effort to have Stephanie Hawke re-elected as our District 89 House Representative in November, along with Dana Dow, our Maine State Senate District 13 candidate.

Consistent with that effort, Elise Roberts, co-owner of Oak Street Provisions, is organizing a cookout at Barrett Park on Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The “griller extraordinaire” herself — Representative Stephanie Hawke — will be cookin’. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dessert and a beverage will be available all for just $8. Boothbay Harbor’s own Noel and Gabe will be providing traditional country music. Everyone on the peninsula is welcome. So, have the kids bring their Frisbees and wading shoes.

The Committee is also holding a fundraising raffle — RAF-FALL b4 Autumn. Prizes include a clam bake for two at Cabbage Island, a whale watching cruise for two with Captain Fish and a $50 gift certificate from Brown's Wharf restaurant plus a possible mystery prize. Raffle tickets are $5 each and 5 for $20, and may be purchased at Oak Street Provisions, at Hawke Motors, from committee members or at the cookout. We look forward to seeing all of you at Barrett Park on Saturday, Sept. 17.
