Blethen trains for New York Ironman race

Brian Blethen of Boothbay has been training for about a year and half to compete in the 140.6 mile Ironman in Lake Placid, N.Y. on July 27.
Last year when Blethen, 41, decided he was definitely going to do it, he volunteered at Lake Placid 2013 Ironman in order to get in to the competition. He trains every weekend. He does his training locally, including two mile swims in Lake Knickerbocker.
His family is very excited for him and can't wait until he has his weekends to spend at home again. It is quite a sacrifice because your whole weekend becomes consumed with training.
