Bertha E. Reed, 89, of Wiscasset, died Oct. 13, 2015, at Coves Edge in Damariscotta.

She was born in Damariscotta on Sept. 13, 1926, a daughter of Frank and Bernice (Barnes) Reed.

She attended Wiscasset schools and Wiscasset Academy. She was employed in the Wiscasset area all of her life taking care of children and the elderly in their homes.

She enjoyed gardening, animals, Halloween and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by three brothers, F. Eugene Reed and his wife Yvonne of Dresden, Daniel E. Reed and his wife Mary of Wiscasset, and Charles Reed of Wiscasset; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bertha was predeceased by one brother, Earl D. Reed, and two sisters, Ruth Reed and Virginia Reed.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Burial will follow at Old Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
