letter to the editor

Be selfless, not selfish

    Dear Editor:

Recently I’ve been talking to my friends and they have been telling me that they can’t afford their houses. I am determined to make it so one week each year, during the summer, will be dedicated to people who don’t come across money easily. There could be a money donation, a fishing boat available to fish for food, clothing and toy donations, and free health insurance from the town or a few companies.

First of all, my friend just told me that they finally got control over (sic) the temperature in their bedroom and before they couldn’t sleep in it. Now they’re moving because they can’t afford their house. There should be a money donation to help people in these situations.

Food is needed to keep you alive, but some people can’t afford food or run low on food. Other people could give some of their extra food. A fishing boat could come and take people (for free) on fishing trips for food.

Ripped jeans can look cool until it’s snowing outside. They you’re too cool and you can catch a cold. People could give away non-trashy clothes to those who need them. Plus, to help (them) get over colds, there could be free health insurance for them.

You know all those Barbies you don’t want anymore or those stuffed animals that you have way too many of; well, there could be a thing called “The Free Play Giveaway,” a donation so people can have something to play with.

Now don’t be selfish. Be selfless. Give to our fellow neighbors. You have to agree that a percentage of people can’t afford their houses, have food problems, have ripped clothing, and can’t afford to have fun.

Now let’s get together and have a week dedicated to help those in need.
