Bayville Buzz: Bye for now

Sun, 09/14/2014 - 8:00am

By now, I trust everyone has managed to recover from the festivities of Boothbay’s Birthday Bash. I forgot to mention that Becky Roberts was seen rocking the keyboard at the parade.

I keep hoping it’s just a bad dream, but it appears that the unofficial end of summer has just passed us by. Summer never seems quite long enough and this year was no exception. The good news is that summer isn’t officially over just yet and as many of you know, fall here is wonderful too. Winter? It has its charms, but decidedly fewer fans, and not many Bayvillians stick around to see it.

Now that the Great Migration has begun, unless there is a sudden and unexpected influx of news, this column marks the end of the Bayville Buzz for this year. I appreciate everyone who sent me info as it makes my work easier and more importantly, the column more interesting. Next year, I’m really hoping for more participation from the masses. I’m setting my sights on just one contribution (more are welcome!) from each home. That should be pretty simple. I just hope you don’t all pick the same week to write. Phil has shared many stories, some of them inadvertently, and I always have those in my back pocket as future entertainment. Al, you may want to give me your version of some of the events before I go public.

It seems very appropriate that the column will close out with news pertaining to Peter Jordan and the Bayville Beat. For those of you who would like your own copy of the happenings in Bayville through the eyes and literary talents of Peter Jordan, Rudy has announced that she is having additional copies printed of Peter’s "Bayville Beat Book." The cost is only $17, which she will collect next year when she hands them out. She needs to know how many to order by October 1. You can email Rudy at rudyoldhouse@gmail.com if you are interested. Please put me down for one.

Thank you Rudy and thanks to everyone for making Bayville so special. I hope our time apart is full of good times and pleasant memories for each of you and that we are all back together soon.
