If I had a nickel for my every Barrett Park photograph — weddings, senior pictures, family reunions, birthday parties, scenes of Lobster Cove, boats on Linekin Bay, Sprucewold shorelines, after glowing sunsets over Cabbage Island — we could buy a nice big whopping cheeseburger meal with all the fixins at the Bath Heartstopper's drive-thru and chase it with a large DQ chocolate soft serve.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s that good!

For anyone who may not know, Barrett Park is a great vantage point for our south facing water world. You can see a lot of territory from this point of land. If you go to the Catholic Church, figuratively speaking, and turn onto Lobster Cove Road, you are almost there. It’s a great piece of real estate that is thoroughly used by everyone.

For this visit, there was a break in the weather — a glorious bright day, crystal clear, little wind with only the scent of lobster traps wafting along the shore. It’s a fisherman's self-storage this time of year, and a fascinating unguided tour.

One of the areas I visited had a little table and a comfy chair. It seemed like a nice bottle of wine and some fine china might appear at any moment. These are signature, landmark, custom designed and structurally unique spaces that spring up each year. And they make sense. Each “neighborhood” is neat and tidy and well cared for. It’s like walking through a life size Lego set, a Lobster Trap Village.

Soon Barrett Park will be transformed. The grass will green up, and old Charlie Begin dories will drift offshore, maybe.
