Barbara Ann Blanchard, 84, died at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Maine on Aug. 18, 2016.

Barbara was born July 30, 1932 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Milton and Alice (Willis) Bassett. She grew up in Randolph, Massachusetts and graduated from Randolph High School. She married Ellsworth Blanchard and raised her family.

Barbara worked for Marshall Paper Tube in Randolph, Massachusetts as a factory worker for many years. Barbara and her family moved to Maine in 1986. In Boothbay Harbor she worked as a chambermaid at Fisherman’s Wharf and Ocean Gate Hotel.

Barbara’s family was her main focus. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was strong, loving and caring. She loved to go shopping, traveling with her husband and her cats.

She was predeceased by her husband; sister, Charlotte Curran; brothers, Edward and Milton Bassett; and son-in-law, Richard Hansen

She is survived by daughters, Deborah Hansen and her husband Ron of Boothbay Harbor, and Melanie Hansen of Sanford; sons, David Blanchard of Boothbay Harbor and Robert Blanchard and his wife Karen of Middleboro, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 11 a.m., Sept. 3 at the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church, Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor.
