‘Bake the Night Away’ in Nobleboro

Wed, 10/29/2014 - 3:00pm

The smell of fresh bread baking is almost irresistible, and so is the upcoming Central Lincoln County Adult Education course Bake the Night Away offered, Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nobleboro Central School.

This one night class will cover how to mix, knead, proof, and shape basic yeast dough. Participants will learn how to create cloverleaf rolls, butter crescents, cinnamon swirls, tea rings and whole-wheat rolls.

Various recipes will be shared and discussed. Each student will go home with a basket of yummy warm samples. All baking levels are welcome for this hands-on class. Students should bring an apron, rolling pin, cutting board and a plastic tub to fill and take home.

Instructor Debra Arter leaned how to bake from her mom, a home economics teacher. She participates in cooking contests regularly and her loaves of bread often get blue ribbons at the Union Fair. Her enthusiasm for food and fun is contagious. There is a $5 materials fee payable to the instructor for supplies the night of class. The cost of the course is $29.
