Comic book legend, and founder of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee, proudly displays his new comic book series, “The Zodiac Legacy: Tiger Island,” published by the groundbreaking children’s book publisher, Paper Cutz. The release of the book marks a reunion between Stan Lee and local designer Dawn Guzzo of Atomic Studios, who provided the production and design of this groundbreaking graphic novel.

Dawn was sought out by PaperCutz editor, Jim Salicrup, to return to comic book design, after running the legendary Marvel Bullpen for over 15 years, prior to the Guzzos’ move to Maine. Dawn had worked with Stan on many of his books, during her tenure, and her husband Gary, was the head of marketing and publicity at Marvel, and was tasked with accompanying Lee to every live appearance and interview.

The reunion is part of an ongoing working agreement with Dawn and PaperCutz, and marks the return of one of the first women to rise through the ranks of Marvel, in an age where the industry was almost entirely male.

“Our working relationship has been a long and very productive one,” notes Salicrup, who worked as an editor at Marvel. “We’ve kept this a secret for a while, but I am thrilled to say that Dawn Guzzo is back designing comics, and PaperCutz is proud to have her.”

Atomic Studios, the long-time hometown graphic and web design company, is located on West Street in Boothbay Harbor, and offers everything from simple business card design, to full book design and production.
