No issues or objections were raised at the annual budget meeting of AOS 98 on Feb. 25, and the budget for the 2015-2016 fiscal year passed unanimously.

AOS 98, also called the Rocky Channels School System, serves the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District, Edgecomb Eddy School, Georgetown Central School and Southport Central School.

The AOS (which stands for Alternative Organizational Structure) was authorized to spend $156,025 on special education, and $460,388 on system administration for a total budget of $616,413, which is a $4,171 increase over last year’s budget.

The AOS school committee was also authorized to expend any federal or state grants or other income sources during the fiscal year for central office purposes, provided the use of the funds did not require any additional expenditures.

The AOS budget does not include funding for student/staff support, regular, career, technical and other instruction, school administration, transportation and buses, facilities maintenance, debt service and commitments and all other expenditures; those items are funded by the separate Community School District School Committee (CSD) budget.
