Just rubble remains where the former Windjammer Shop at 8 Wharf Street stood.

On Nov. 24, Eric Wood and his crew arrived on site at 8 a.m. to begin demolition and by noon the building had been leveled.

Local historian Barbara Rumsey said the building dated to the late 1800s.

Rahul Anand of Connecticut, the new owner, is replacing the structure with another one that’s 30 percent larger.

Knickerbocker Group is designing the new structure.

Construction partner Eric Marden stopped by during the demolition and commented, “Looking good.”
