Allan E. Strouss

Allan Emmons Strouss, 69, of Boothbay died at home on March 27, 2016.

Allan was born November 20, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Margaret (Emmons) and Clarence Strouss, who predeceased him.

He graduated from the Perkiomen School, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania and from the Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. Allan then worked at Strouss’ in Youngstown, Ohio, after which he pursued a writing career until his retirement to Maine in 2008.

Allan was an avid sailer, skier, reader and loved Maine. He also belonged to the Woodchucks in Boothbay as well as driving weekly for Meals On Wheels.

Allan is survived by his wife, Sarah; his three sisters, Catherine Bickell and her husband William of Boulder, Colorado, Anne McKellar of Broomfield, Colorado, and Janet Strouss and her partner Richard Tallman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

On Thursday, May 5, 2016, between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m., a gathering of friends and family to remember Allan will take place at the Boothbay Railway Village Town Hall on Route 27 in Boothbay. There are no other arrangements according to his wishes.
