All Seahawk: Track and field MVC highlights

Personal records, school records fall in 2018

The Seahawks track and field teams went to the Mountain Valley Conference Championships on May 24. The boys placed fourth out of 13 teams and were only five points behind Monmouth Academy and 11 points behind Hall-Dale High School. The girls placed eighth out of 13 teams.

Four athletes placed first earning spots on the All Conference first team and each joining the All Seahawk Top 10 list: Jay Hasch, Reagan Cola, Blake Erhard and Connor Demmons. Hasch set the school record for a high jump of 6-4. Cola joined the All Seahawk list at fourth for her 400m dash win. Blake Erhard’s 800m dash win earned him a personal record as well as eighth on the All Seahawk list. Connor Demmons won the discus event.

Blake Erhard was the only individual athlete to place second – 1600m run. The 400m and 800m Seahawks relay teams – consisting of Erhard, Graham Harris, Will Perkins and Kyle Ames – both placed second, the 400m team earning tenth on the All Seahawk and the 800m team setting the school record. Erhard will join the All Conference second team in three events.

Quinn Ranta also joined All Seahawk at fifth for 110m high hurdles and at tenth for triple jump. Will Perkins joined the list at sixth for the high jump. Hasch also joined the list for javelin (tenth), long jump (third), and triple jump (first). Olivia Paolillo made the list for 100m hurdles (eighth) and 300m hurdles (ninth). Hannah Cola earned All Seahawk fifth place for the 100m dash in which she placed fourth, beat her personal record, and qualified for states.

Reagan Cola placed seventh in the 200m dash, Kyle Ames placed fifth in the 800m run, and Will Perkins placed fourth in the 400m run. The girls 400m relay team – Reagan Cola, Marissa Peters, Olivia Paolillo and Hannah Cola – placed fourth and the 100m relay team – Zada Smith, Riley Sullivan, Olivia Paolillo and Marissa Peters – placed seventh.
