Above and Beyond Scheduling, the new business venture by Juliette and Ronald Cohen, won second place in the UMaine Business Challenge.

There were five finalists who presented to judges the last weekend in April, pared down from more than 20 entries.

As second place winners, they received $1,000 in cash along with consulting services provided by Cary Weston, partner in Sutherland-Weston Marketing located in Bangor.

“This win means a lot to both of us,” Juliette Cohen said. “Now we can use our resources in other ways, and we won't be stretched so thin at the beginning.”

“Weston is amazing,” Ronald Cohen said. “He is excited about helping us and has given some amazing advice already.”

“His services alone are worth all the effort we put in over the past six months to do this,” Juliette Cohen added.

Above and Beyond Scheduling will act as an in-between service between patients and caregivers, utilizing a network of certified nursing assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), certified residential medication aids (CRMA), personal support specialists (PSS), and Registered Nurses (RN).

They will coordinate in-home care at any level of time and need depending on what the patient and their family requires.

Juliette Cohen will also be in charge of follow-up visits to determine if the patients needs have changed.

“By being proactive instead of reactive, we can fix problems before they occur and endanger the patient,” Cohen said.
