Corporators of the Wiscasset Public Library held their annual meeting January 24 in the library on High Street, and elected two new members of the Board of Trustees -- Lisa Hardman, replacing Judy Flanagan who resigned after being elected a Selectman for the town of Wiscasset, and Linda Bleile.  Continuing on the Board of Trustees are Cindy Fischer, Susan Schweigard, Sally Gemmill, Wendy Ross Eichler, Tom Boudin, Linda Winterberg and Michelle Peele.

Reelected to continue as officers of the Board of Trustees were Ross Eichler, president, Boudin, treasurer, and Winterberg, secretary.  Gemmill was elected as Vice President, replacing Susan Blagden who has left the board.

Library Director Pam Dunning, in her year-end report, said she was pleased to see that the library’s collection and its other resources had been well-utilized by the public during the year.  To demonstrate this, she listed some vital statistics:

-- 96 children registered for the Summer Reading Program, with 60 completing it

-- 55 children’s programs were attended by almost 1,000 people

-- 120 patrons attended eight adult programs

The library collection includes 33,391 physical items, 58 magazine subscriptions, 9,932 eBooks and 5,265 downloadable audio books.  A total of 30,726 items were checked out and returned by patrons during the year.

Dunning also praised the work of the group Friends of the Library for its fundraising activities (NOTE: this year’s Big Band Concert is Sunday, Sept. 4) and the Library Board for initiating a brick fundraiser. Thirty inscribed bricks have already been planted in the patio, with more waiting to be planted as the ground thaws, with others on order, she said.

She thanked all who had volunteered for the library during the year and said volunteers are always welcome.
