Jonathan Swift is quoted as having said, "He was a bold man that first ate an oyster". I wonder if he knew that the oyster delicacy has been celebrated since prehistoric times as evidenced by middens all across the globe. Today, we toast this bounty of the sea at our own Pemaquid Oyster Festival.
THE PEMAQUID OYSTER FESTIVAL SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28 | Thousands of oysters abound fresh from the Damariscotta River, on the half shell with beautiful mignonettes and in many different preparations. Held at Schooner Landing, in Damariscotta, there's always a fantastic line-up of bands, along with educational exhibits featuring the work of area artists and non-profits. Damariscotta, ME is just up the road apiece. About 20 minutes. Stop in at the Inn reception desk for directions.

Tonight in Bogies (where --- it's all about the food), consider one of Chef's new Fall items --- SPI Autumn Signature Salad + baby lettuce, Tourmaline Farm chevre, SPI candied pecans, poached pear, white balsamic vinaigrette.
88 is considered one of the best dining experiences in Boothbay Harbor. Chef Brooks and Sous Chef Fain have just finished the Fall menu update. Try the --- "SPI" Steak Diane + prime beef medallions, chanterelles, peppercorn mىlange, bourbon, market veg, garlic mashers. Guests have been raving.
Breakfast is served in Bogies from 8 to 11 am. A lite lunch is available for order at the reception desk in the hotel lobby and our evening dining venues are open from 5 pm to 10 pm.
Join us at 5 pm for a specialty cocktail from Ainne. Wear a sweatshirt and choose your favorite SPI Adirondack on the shore.
