The Board of Trustees of the Wiscasset Library announces the completion of a winding brick path joining the brick patio on the library’s lower level with the sidewalk.  J and H Landscaping built the path recently.  Its installation was made possible by a vote of the board and the donation of a trustee.

The new pathway already has a number of inscribed bricks in it – ones that have been waiting to be installed, and it offers the opportunity to place many more inscribed bricks.  The inscribed bricks are a way to memorialize a loved one who has passed on, or to pay tribute to a special person.  The inscribed bricks also help raise funds for the library as each brick is sold for more than it costs.

Inscribed 4 by 8 inch bricks cost $50 each.  Inscribed 8 by 8 inch bricks cost $100 each, and bricks with art work on them, such as a child’s hand print, cost $200.

The pathway also will serve to welcome Wiscasset residents and visitors to the library’s Used Book Room and to the patio outside it, where patrons can sit quietly and read, or chat with friends.

So at this holiday season, please consider an inscribed brick as a gift to a loved one, or to remember someone who has passed on, and come spring your inscribed brick will be a forever memory in the pathway.

To order a brick come to the library at 21 High Street in Wiscasset with your payment and fill out a form with your desired inscription.
