Every summer, beautiful floral displays grace the front desk of the Wiscasset Public Library.  Tuesday’s begin with a fresh delivery from the Garden Club of Wiscasset’s members. Library patrons look forward to the new arrangement, each with a style and beauty all its own. A stroll around the library grounds offers a view of the Children’s Garden and a sharp eye might catch sight of a visiting monarch butterfly at the club’s Certified Monarch Way Station.

In addition to its work at the Wiscasset Public Library, members of the Garden Club of Wiscasset use their skills to contribute to Wiscasset’s title as “The Prettiest Village in Maine.” In partnership with Historic New England, the club plants and maintains gardens at Wiscasset’s Nickels-Sortwell House, and when spring appears, natives and visitors can enjoy cheerful petunias on the triangles throughout the village.  Further afield the club plants and maintains gardens at the Pownalborough Court House as well as the Serenity Garden at the Cancer Treatment Center in Bath.

The Garden Club of Wiscasset welcomes both beginners and experienced gardeners.  The next meeting is Thursday, September 3rd at 12:30 in the Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church.  The program is - Wild Birds from Wind Over Wings Rehabilitation Center.
