The Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library met on July 13 to discuss a number of projects, including two listed below. Sixteen Friends were present.

The second annual Bands for Books fundraiser will take place on September 20 at 5:00 pm at Marianmade Farm off Federal Street. Friends are working hard to make this project as successful as it was last year. There will be music, refreshments, and a silent auction. Advance tickets, which may be purchased at the library, will cost $20.00 per person. Tickets will cost $25.00 if purchased at the door.

A Mad Hatter Tea Party is planned on August 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This event is to thank Friends, staff, and the public for all their support during the year. The event will take place on the back lawn of the library, near the Used Book Sale Room and the Monarch butterfly garden. Hats are recommended.

A local history lecture series is planned for later this year. Please watch for dates and times. The Friends also fund the Children’s Room summer reading program, which is in progress.

The Meeting closed with book sharing. Please join us at our next meeting on September 14 at 9:30 for refreshments before the 10 pm business meeting.
