THE MOOD WAS TENSE LEADING UP TO 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 12 at the Boothbay Region High School. At 11:10 that morning, a bomb threat was discovered in the boys’ restroom and reported to Principal Dan Welch. Bomb threat at BRHS a false alarm

The handwriting was on the wall - in a stall in the boys’ restroom at the Boothbay Region High School which read: "I’m sick of this place. I’m going to blow it up at 11:30. Call my bluff."
The message was found at 11:10 a.m. by two students on Thursday, November 12 and reported to BRHS Principal Dan Welch. Welch called Superintendent of Schools Eileen King and the evacuation of both BRHS and the Boothbay Region Elementary School began immediately.

Dilley voluntarily withdraws petition for post conviction review

Jon Dilley is now serving two consecutive 30-year sentences for the shooting deaths of his mother, Sally Murray, and his wife, Chelli Calloway on August 21, 2004, in front of his children, and there he will remain.

Wind energy test site in local waters?

About a dozen fishermen and lobstermen from the Boothbay region and other interested parties gathered at a special meeting at Chewonki in Wiscasset, Tuesday, November 10, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to hear and discuss Maine’s Offshore Ocean Energy Demonstration Siting Initiative put on by the University of Maine and the Maine Department of Conservation.

"I’m proud to be a veteran," said Vice Admiral James B. Perkins at the Thursday, November 12, Rotary dinner. He declared that we should celebrate Armistice Day by acknowledging all of the branches of the service including the Merchant Marines who are often forgotten. Vice Admiral Perkins remarked that there has been a change, a noteworthy phenomenon, where the support of our troops is expressed openly in our current day.

Southport school board discusses
Georgetown and Montreal trip

The Thursday, November 12, Southport School Committee meeting began with a report from school Principal Mike McGuire. He told board members Amy Shaw, Bruce White and chairman Kathy Tibbetts of a request that he had received from Dick Snyder of the Southport Historical Society. The request was for Southport Central School to contribute to a fund-raiser to furnish the Southport Town Hall with a computer projector and stage equipment.

Russell Brackett to open new Radio Shack in Damariscotta

In my previous column on bail, I described the factors that go into the decision of setting the bail amount for a person in custody of law enforcement. Once the amount of bail has been established and the defendant has acquired the appropriate money, the bail commissioner then springs into action and performs the necessary function.
